An impressive oath-taking ceremony was held for the recently-elected members of the Executive Committee of SOBER this morning.
In addition to the Founder President, Mr. Abdul Ahad Haqqani & members of SOBER-2, it was attended by a cross section of community elders, and notables.
For my part, I congratulated President Shahid Ali, and members of his team, wishing them success in the course of their term of office. I appealed them to help reunify the community. I recommended that SOBER-3 be given all the time & space to advancing the cause of residents. At least during the first 100 days of the “honeymoon”, they should enjoy full freedom of action. Difficult challenges were ahead. The community should fully support the new team. A process of scrutiny of SOBER-3’s performance may begin after 100 days. That too is required to be healthy, positive & constructive. Continuing, I stressed the importance of opening a full-time office of SOBER, as its finances were likely to be improved with the inflows of subscription fee from January, 2023. Concluding, I handed over the Instrument of Registration of SOBER with ICT Administration, in original, to President Shahid Ali.
SOBER was registered on 03 November, 2023, under Charities Registration, Facilitation & Regulation Act-2021.
