Growing Security Concern in Bahria Enclave

For information:
Brig. (R) Imran Munawwar,
Country-Chief, MSM
AoA,
As member of the MSM WhatsApp group, you may have been reading the growing concerns of residents about the precarious security in BE. We are not asking MSM to provide us absolute security. We know it, no one can. Neither is it possible. All we have been requesting is that MSM – a lot better than before – needs to opt for urgent, and fundamental reforms in its systems, professional training, and welfare of its personnel. It is advisable to prepare the force for preemptive action rather than working bewildered in reaction.
Registration of domestic helpers is required to be fast, and applicant-friendly. Exit & entry points are not being rigorously monitored. We acknowledge that some residents are not entirely blame-free when it comes to the hiring of maids. We also know that security will remain vulnerable as long as the Enclave is not fully walled or fenced.
Last, but not the least, almost all MSM personnel are underpaid, and overworked. They are being paid a paltry amount of Rs. 22K, much less than the approved wage of an unskilled worker. They are on duty for 12 hours a day. It is a violation of law. Their posts are shabby, unequipped with basic facilities. Clearly, this affects morale, and motivation of the workforce.
We have discussed these issues with your competent local leadership on many occasions. It assured us of improvement, and reforms. But, sadly not much progress has been seen on ground.
We, the residents of BE, request you to review the security situation, improve it with better planning & management, & training of personnel. It calls for placement of additional resources.
We look forward to meeting you on your next visit to BE. Best regards.
Iftikhar Hussain Kazmi,
President, SOBER
